Malaysia buy some commodity from Indonesia

Malaysia is ready to buy rice from Indonesia to help overcome the food crisis, after Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak come to Indonesia yesterday (2/6).

"If Indonesia has a rice surplus, I hope Malaysia can buy it," He told to Antara and Bernama news agencies.

He said thats the food crisis in ASEAN properly can be finished through member solidarity of ASEAN.

Countries of AESEAN regional would like to learn from Indonesia how it manages to deal with the food crisis and how it could reduce government oil fuel (BBM) subsidy.

Malaysia tries to surmount the food crisis by introducing price monitoring and supervision. “Price of several commodities is strictly supervised and their price is not allowed to be increased,” Najib said.

In the case of rice, for example, special attention goes to the monitoring of super quality varieties. Price of other types of lesser quality is determined by market mechanism.

Indonesian Vice President of Jusuf Kalla estimated og this year that the national rice production surpass demand because of an increase in productivity per hectare.

Najib hopes that starting from this year Indonesia will be able to meet domestic demand for rice and the next step exporting to member of ASEAN regional is not making trouble of Indoensia stock rice.
